Five hand embroidered artist books, now available in my shop.

You have seen these pieces progress over the past weeks, from the stitching of papers to create the pages to the embroidery of the tiny scraps which adorn each page along with the further embellishment of pages using masses of bullion knots, a litlle buttonhole stitch and a few French knots.

You also saw the creation of the gingham pockets which each of these lives in for safe keeping.

The description here sounds a little like a marathon but I have to say, I have loved every minute of creating these. I'm not going to stop.

There is a delicacy to each piece, beautiful to handle, fragile yet heavily embellished.

Artist books, notebook stitching, embellishing paper.....

This little book is very much 'in progress' and will continue to be going forward.

The double page spread here was started in one of my Zoom get togethers and I managed to finish it last night.

There is collage, there are French knots and bullion knots, there are simple stab stitches and tiny pom poms.

The left edge......oversized white sequins.

paper, sampling, stitch

I picked this up again yesterday, an excuse to play with some paper I bought in London.

When I got home late on Saturday there was a birthday to celebrate.

Today is another opportunity for me to say happy birthday James!

There is so much love for you, from the people who surround you and who also delight in your new life as daddy to Sonny.

Besides birthdays and cake there has been some domestic catch up to see to and today that continues but I am almost there!

Back to the book....it's been present quite a bit recently and if you missed those posts you can see them here and here.

Three weeks from today my new class begins, 'a sampler's cloth'. You can read more about that here.

white lace and an embroidered silk token

I'm continuing to work in the little book from this post. This double page spread has embroidered lace, a cigarette silk, some ribbon and a few embroidered flowers.

Last time I spoke about working the page edges in a different way to buttonhole stitch. This edge has tiny pompoms all around it.

Every page won't have pompoms or buttonhole stitch. Hopefully I can come up with more ideas.

My cloth book has been resting as I ran out of silk but my new stuff has arrived so I am on it.

 

another to finish

Last time I was here I showed three pieces which need to be finished. Here's number four. There are other little notebooks which are unfinshed too so I guess you can add seven, eight and nine to that list.

I created this little book some time ago. I actually made two of these and one was sold. It's about time this one got more attention so I have begun to add to the pages and embellish the page edges.

Up to now I have added buttonhole stitch to two pages edges. I think I need to be more inventive going forward.
