hexagons and ribbon

The next panel for my cloth is a planned piece. By that I mean it is a specific size to fit a specific space on my cloth.

This kind of accuracy doesn't happen until I near the end of creating a wrapping cloth, I am very relaxed at the start, no measuring, no planning.

This panel has a little patchwork along with a vintage embroidered strip attached with bullion knots which also serves as a channel for ribbon. I have then added a small flounce which came from a dolls dress, (the white piece).

I think I will adorn the seam for this one with hand made buttons, the seam where I join it to the actual cloth.

weaving paper and ribbon

This piece is from the same sampling thought process as this. I am playing with ideas for woven surfaces which I'm hoping will become overlays of sorts for my work in 'creative portfolio'.

I'm hoping by sampling I can achieve the exact structures I'm aiming for. (these literally are just samples and I'm hoping the end results will be a lot different to these but I can't say too much about that)

Pieced papers, buttonhole edges, ribbon, bullion knots, hand embroidered buttons and edges......a calm pastime, relaxing, therapeutic....

This is what i've been doing, along with class work which I can't share.

This paper is a dream to stitch into. It's called lace paper and I just ordered more.

a wrap for an artist book

This piece, the woven, embroidered ribbon piece was inspired by an old photograph of a similar woven ribbon surface I made some time ago.

It gave me an itch to make more and this little artist book needed a wrap so hey presto.

It still needs work but I'm on it.

I've been a bit quiet this week. There is so much going on here at the moment and it's likely I will be quiet again this weekend.
