My postman made me very happy this week as you can see in the first two images. I will have to come back from holiday more often. The other images are mostly holiday stitching and holiday purchases.....the bangles and necklaces will be cut up, the beads and sequins put to a much better use. I would much rather have those adorning my work than ''myself''.
What a week...strange. I feel as if I have been trying to drag myself through treacle, slowly, barely awake, woolly brain and too much dirty washing. (the washing is done, we won't talk about the ironing)
It's a price worth paying for an amazing holiday but boy will I be glad when I feel normal again.
I am having a day off today. I have gone with my daughter to see the new house my parents moved into this week. I have seen it before, Helen hasn't. I doubt there will be cake but boxes will need to be unpacked I am sure. I'm going armed with flowers AND a vase in case vases can't be found in all the confusion.
It's been a week of very different things. Embroidery, Glastonbury, (last image, the most important one!!). There's been paper stuff, thread deliveries, gift deliveries, gloomy days and very wet days. The beach? That's from last week. This beach was on my doorstep when I was growing up. I was born and raised at the seaside. I love to go back. I'm drawn to the beach wherever I am, it's in my blood. The rocks are a new addition however, flood defences are being installed after awful flooding last winter.
There will be stitching today, some fiddling, some doodling, some note making and perhaps a little shopping list for my trip to London later this week.
It's been a busy week, a good week, a productive week, a week of new ideas, possible plans, lots of creativity. That may surprise you seeing as how I was moaning about a lack of direction earlier in the week..........it didn't last long.
My phone is mostly overworked. It takes pictures of anything that doesn't move. If I had a cat I would most likely be chasing it all day in order to photograph it. It's a good thing cloth can't move of its own free will.
And who knew that salt and pepper were essentials for embroidery. I just noticed they are still on the table from our last meal.....oops.
It's a good thing I like blue and white....adore blue and white. I am surrounded by it at the moment. It would have consumed my week completely if it weren't for the broken computer and the broken back gate. Today will be a stitch free day. I am here, probably eating cake. Tomorrow I will show you progress on the piece with letters....
Thank goodness for ledgers.....the past week has been a write off embroidery wise for various reasons. I feel as if I have achieved zero. These are the images from my phone taken since last weekend, note the lack of embroidery. Ledgers ? There are quite a few of those however. That's because yesterday afternoon I decided to reignite my creativity, or at least try to and turning ledger pages generally works for that.
It also proved to be a good exercise pre simply stitch 5. It has given me a few ideas for that. If an athlete runs 10K to prepare for his next task, I turn pages...my equivalent of a 10K run.
This weekend I am hoping to make stitchery progress whilst watching this and wishing I was back at Glastonbury....
Just a quick word about flowers. It has been mentioned that I always have fresh flowers. I do, or at least I mostly do. Thing is, when we go and do our Friday ''big shop'' at the supermarket my husband likes to fill the trolley with beer. (for him, I don't drink alcohol, not for moral or religious reasons but because I can't be trusted under the influence of even the tiniest glass of wine!!) So he gets beer, I get flowers.....his treat, my treat.
Well the past week has been busier than I thought by looking at these images from my phone. These are just the embroidery/creativity related ones. I'm not sure you want to see rain through a window or dirty dishes in the sink or a pile of ironing although that would prove my status as aspiring domestic goddess. There was also a raspberry and mint trifle, made from scratch, by me....yes it's true. The attraction there was the ''no cooking needed'' aspect.
I'm still thinking about the shiny, dazzly, sparkly thing. I have an idea but I'm still not sure it's good enough. Maybe the only way to find out is to actually do it. I will ponder on that whilst I clean my kitchen window which is the next task on the list.
p.s.....Liza, are you geting my e mails???? I don't mind if you are choosing to ignore me, I don't blame you actually, I just don't want you to think I am rude, bad mannered and not caring a jot. :(
I'm not here today. I'm up North at a garden party. Three of my close relatives all reach a birthday milestone at the same time. Whoever planned that didn't do it very well although I suppose three parties in one is good for the cook.......which isn't me.
So I thought I'd leave you with some old movies to watch while I'm gone. Should keep you out of trouble.
A glimpse of the past week from my phone, from my instagram uploads. There doesn't appear to be much variety here....oh well, I haven't been back for very long, can't quite have got my roll rolling....
Last week from my phone. I do take pictures of other things with my phone, relatives, cakes, flowers and such, non embroidery related. I have actually been taking pictures of the wreck that is my bathroom, the dirt, the piles of rubble but you don't come here for that and trust me you are better not knowing.
Anyway, because I have no bathroom to speak of I have escaped to mothers.....just for the day but let me tell you....a full day with unhindered lavatory access is a day to be treasured.
