complimentary.....

Yesterday afternoon I made lace cloth, this piece and more. I thought it might be a good idea to have a little bit of cohesion going on....( just generally) so I am picking pattern out of finished pieces and making lace cloth to compliment, to live alongside pockets and pillows and things. I won't be building ''collections'' as such because I don't have time but somewhere down the line there may be a couple of buttons thrown into this new desire for cohesion too.

Design sheets

I thought you might like to see these, a collection of the sheets I have created for the class which is almost finished ''sampling for stitch''. I have had so much fun and I am hoping the girls have too. My intention wasn't ever to make this pocket I am sampling for. This pocket which I now know inside out in terms of size, colour, thread, cloth, stitches, process, placement. My intention was to create a library of information,  a library of samples, a library of inspiration for use in the future. Well I have that now, the library, the collection, the inspiration. That makes me very happy.

I would love to also make this pocket, to follow the process I have investigated over the past 12 weeks or so, to put some of that into action, to create a pocket, to test my sampling, to fully view the results of my sampling.  I may just do that. It's certainly on  my ''to do'' list.

abc and a tiny scrap of lace

stitches and circles

Spotty cloth, circles, five minutes and a few stitches....a video. I extended this stitch last night, another ten minutes or so. As I was doing that I thought wouldn't it be wonderful to have this embroidered cloth in yardage, a full yard of it to cut up, to patch, to piece. I played  a little on photoshop this morning, (not my strong point as you can see) just to get an idea of how it might look pieced with a check....it works for me.

This little sample will go in my sample stock, my sample library, my snippet for books pile, my handy little pieces pile for when I need something special to finish a design sheet or  a page.

(re photoshop. It's not that I couldn't do better if I put the effort in. It's the will that is missing, the desire....I am not a technologically minded or passionate or even interested person, I'm a stitcher.)

a quick doodle

As promised, the page from yesterday has been added to with a very quick doodle. One simple line which brings it together a little more, connects the other pieces. There is still a lot of blank space on here. I'm not worried. I may not touch this for a couple more days but I'm in no hurry and I already have an idea of what to put there.

I'm having a very mixed day today. It's all good but my ''to do'' list is extremely diverse. This morning I stripped beds, made this video and another video for you for tomorrow. I posted a new set of videos on the ''sampling'' class blog and I want to line a piece of embroidery which is now finished. (I still don't want to show you yet. I'm trying to get a few things finished in order to show them all at the same time)

Also on the ''to do'' list today, clean my sons room.....he moved out yesterday. Re make the beds and work on a few pages for my little books. That should  keep me out of trouble.

wiggly gimp

I made it.....my day so far, 30 minutes on the telephone to my internet provider and even longer to my mobile phone provider.....modern technology? Don't make me laugh. Press one for insanity, two for fury and three when you have lost the will to live........anyway, happy things, cloth things, sewing things, embroidery. Thank goodness for the serenity that is embroidery.

This piece is from here, hardly anything has been added but what a difference it has made. A wiggly line of gimp extending under the piping and coming out the other side in a straight line. One tiny pocket, of which there will be more, edged with bullion knots and French knots. What's not to love.....

More doodling on white silk and the early stages of stitch. This piece will need much more embellishment before it can be used to create a pocket. More doodling will also be needed on the surface to extend the pattern. For now there are two embroidered flowers and one leaf edged with chain stitch. The flowers are a mix of padded applique, bullion knots, running stitch and chain stitch.

I am using coloured coton a broder on this one, a mix if sizes 16 and 25. The ''25'' is very fine, the ''16'' a little thicker. I don't yet have a favourite, I'm just enjoying using this thread..... It has a softness....

dissecting pattern, a window viewer

Do you remember I said here that one thing leads to another and that in turn leads to something else? This is another example of that. Two pieces of embroidery, one doodle sheet and one window viewer equals seven new patterns.

I am hankering after more doodled silk. Now I have seven ideas to work with, each very different. All I need to do now is transfer these images to cloth and off we go.

 

 

three stems and nine circles....doodling.

Yesterdays embroidery was inspired by this doodle. This doodle sheet informed this pouch. It's a never ending circle, one thing leads to another which leads to something else.

new doodling on white silk

This piece was inspired by some new doodling on paper. I am going to show you the doodling tomorrow, back to front I know. What can I say, I'm a back to front kind of girl. This one was stitched using my new coton a broder 16 which isn't quite as fine as the 25 I spoke of earlier this week.

It appears I spend most of my days in raptures.....cloth raptures. Here's another that has me excited, doing tummy flips. The potential for more is scary. Meanwhile I continue to search for the day with 34 hours in it.
