titivating

It's a long one today...in terms of images at least so maybe you want to put the kettle on. I'm being indecisive, couldn't decide which ones to leave out and didn't want to leave any until tomorrow. I have been making more cloth of the lace variety...ripe for titivating into pincushions. This is the cloth we will be making in lace class in a couple of weeks. There will be a lot of these images going on facebook and instagram later....you will be bored to death and have grown beards before bedtime. Death by lace cloth, there are worse ways to go.

We had a lovely meal last night....d e l i c i o u s. There are pics of that on instagram too...there is a link up top. (right hand side) Then there is this...my latest pouch/pocket thingy.

This one is coming along, slowly but it's coming. I feel as if I am on a roll and don't want to stop. It would be better if my trip to London was three weeks away not next week. Then again....all those lovely fabric shops, vintage shops. I will force myself to go.

details

I've been busy today. There was another, earlier post just look below. That was my table at nine o'clock this morning. These pictures are of the detail from yesterdays hanging cloths and also the final, finished edge of my veil thing.

The wrapping cloth now has tabs, bullion seams and a little bullion 'fence'. The festooned/veil thingy is now completely finished...woo hoo!! Last night I embroidered more on my latest piece, my new muslin pouch and I hope to get images of that later. I have also put together a couple of small pieces, strips of cloth. They may have embroidery added before the day is out and then there is lace....a sewing machine...scrim and a plan for more to go on my curtain. I best get going then there's work to be done.

currently......

These are my current 'in progress' pieces of cloth. The top image shows yesterdays piece in the foreground. Do you see that bump? The white dome thing? That has to go, I will be removing that soon. It just irritates me. Not that I have anything against that process in general. Quite the opposite in fact, I use it a lot and will be showing my embroider, embellish, create girls how to do it some time soon. I just feel that it needs to be made using a different cloth, a more matt cloth, a chalky cloth.

Meantime I have been pondering the pieces I have accumulated so far for my new wrapping cloth. That is the piece that will get most attention this coming week. Class has started, the flickr group is filling up. I need to be one step ahead of class not twelve behind so I had best get a move on.

This week is also the very last week of Alchemy. That is going to be a wrench. I have spent the last 12 weeks with those girls and boy will I miss them. I have a feeling that the girls in eec will keep me on my toes but 12 weeks is a very long time. There is a lot to miss there......sad face here. All is not lost though, it appears that you do want a class about lace and that will come, will be announced in the next few weeks. Meantime my eec group will be getting my undivided attention! Get your pencils sharpened in class.....

tiny

It is so small you could easily miss it. It is a tiny piece of wrapped thread attached to some embroidered scrim. I had intended to add it to the surface of one of the two blocks I already have embroidered for my next wrapping cloth but it doesn't fit, not comfortably. Nothing lost though, I plan to put another block together later today and it will then go onto that one.

My last wrapping cloth, the one I talk about in this video is almost finished, I am halfway through titivating the final seam. It will then need to be backed and I am probably going to make some prairie points for the edges. By this time next week that one should be winging its way to its new home.

Don't forget...embroider, embellish,create begins again soon. There have been glitches this week...big cartel glitches, broken link glitches. But if you would like to create a wrapping cloth of your very own then you can read all about that over here....

salvage...

Remember yesterdays post? Well I didn't progress quite as I had planned. I made a really stupid mistake whilst moving the embroidery on. I have managed to rescue both pieces but they don't look like I intended them to look. Still, if I hadn't said anything you would never have known I don't suppose but as I am still kicking myself I thought you might wonder where all the bruises had come from.

They are now firmly attached to the second block of my new cloth for embroider, embellish, create and that is all I can do on this one for now because I MUST finish the last one.

Today is moving too fast....I have been to school but not flickr school. I have been to the post office, the shop, the garage. I have made two videos and I still have photographs to take. It's all good. It keeps me out of trouble.

Now that my muslin thingy is finished I am thinking about other work that needs to be finished before embroider, embellish, create starts again. If you missed that post my wrapping cloth class has now been re listed in the shop. Tomorrow I plan to pull my table out and join the last cloth together, finish the seams and then back and add final titivations to it. That cloth has been on my mind a lot this past couple of days, nagging away at me as it is so important that I do get it finished. Meantime....whilst I neglect that piece I have been playing with my new cloth. There is white on white here as always but this time with tiny spots of colour.

I wonder about this one. I like it, love it actually but worry that it's a little ''twee''.

I would be interested to know what you think. I suppose if I like it then that's all that matters but....you know how it is (seeking universal approval here...I am such a wuss) but if I remember rightly that was established a long time ago.

I must mention my Alchemy girls too today. My morning has been spent creating a video for them, a critique of their work to date. I have to say that they blow me away...the standard of work is amazing and later this week I am going to compile a list of their blogs for you, on here so that you can be blown away by them too.
