The front and back of this little pocket have now been sewn together and the top edges are pinned ready and waiting for the lining to be embellished. My first task though is to edge this with running stitch and maybe add some sequins and beads along the bottom edge. And in case you were wondering....yes, they will dangle.
It's this again.....I can hear you all snoring from here. It's finished. Well actually I thought it was finished but as you will see from the video I forgot something essential in all the excitement. It's rectified. I show you me putting that right in the video today.
Some mistakes, some forgotten things can occasionally be an excuse for more embellishment. Some mistakes, some forgotten things are happy accidents when you get to titivate a little more. This is one of those....
If you missed it the other day you can read all about this cloth book by following this link. This post will be the first thing you see but you can just scroll past this one.
The past couple of days have been spent finishing ledger pages with Simply Stitch 4 and fiddling with the lace I showed you yesterday. I don't take embroidery with me when I go away anywhere. For some reason I can never stitch unless I'm at home, in my familiar place, all my things around me. I would most likely forget something essential anyway....just ask anyone who has ever taken one of my classes....airhead central that's me. So I will miss this. I am sure there will be moments when I wish I had something to stitch. Perhaps I could put a note on my tent ''get your buttons stitched back on here'', now there's a thought.
My to do list today includes a very important task.....drop my long suffering sewing machine off for a service and some respite care along with buy more toilet rolls and a shed load of wet wipes.
So this is it for a couple of weeks. I will definitely be around on Instagram and Facebook....did I mention my smart phone addiction?
Despite the complaining and the angst about living in a tent I am very, very excited. I have always wanted to go to Glastonbury. It's going to be amazing.
I was on the sewing machine at 8 o'clock this morning, stitching up three sides of the pin pillows. I actually thought they looked quite nice inside out. What do you think? Anyhow I turned them all in the end and now they need to be stuffed and have the edges titivated by hand. I'm not sure if I will do that tonight......I have a yearning for my little sampler and there is another piece in its infancy which has to be tacked.
I visited the folks yesterday. I was given a cake to bring home....I forgot it....there are tears on the keyboard as I type. I would have shared too...honestly.
Final touches, finishing off, backing and adding tabs......I'm getting there if you're on my list waiting for one of these. They will be antiques shortly won't they. Do you feel as if you have been waiting a lifetime? Have you grown a beard? I am sorry...they do take time and then of course I did leave the country for a while. So stand by your computer...I am aiming for the end of this week.
We started our eight week coffee morning today. We're all going to be as big as house ends when we finish. Eight weeks of cake? can you imagine. Alongside eating cake I am making a mini sampler and I will show you that later this week when the girls have seen it. I am quite taken with it actually and hope you like it when you get to see it. As always once pictures start appearing in the group I will put a link for you on here.
In other news......I've got a headache. It's time for a pint of water and a tiny quiet moment. It may also be time for an eye test.
***simply stitch girls.....at the top of the blog is a page 'online learning links'. If you go on there you will find a shortcut to the group blog.***
I'm back from my latest trip up the M6...boy am I sick of the motorway. Hopefully that's it for a while. The next couple of days will be slightly hectic getting ready for Monday. I have clothes to wash, clothes to iron, clothes to pack. I have a house to clean ( if you saw the image I put on instagram this morning that is only a tiny area of a much larger mess!!) Thankfully it's a glorious day and the washing is drying beautifully on the line. I don't have my car either....garage....that needs to be collected later. Oh well......embroidery will fit in somewhere I will make sure of it.
The tick in the title relates to these two little things....they are ticked.........not finished but almost....My plan is to finish them tonight and mail them in the morning. So that's me....my chores for the day listed here and my plans for embroidery too. I will be here tomorrow. What will I show you? Haven't a clue but I will be here!!
I'm making steady progress. Yesterday I machine stitched the pin pillows and the pouch in the afternoon. Last night I began trimming, turning, tacking and embellishing the seams by hand. The pouch is the nearest to completion but they should all be finished by bed time today....at least that's the plan.
There is a busy afternoon ahead too. Lace begins tomorrow!! Woo...how did that come round so fast. I hope the lace girls have their titivating bits ready and you may even need a notebook and pencil...the first one is a long one....don't say you weren't warned.
I hope you're in the mood for white today. There are lots of images of my veil/festooned thingy. I am keeping my fingers crossed that when I press publish the images will have space between them. I have clicked and clicked but they are showing up merged on my preview.....typepad sort yourself out!!!
OK, rant over.....I was working on this last night adding the final edges of lace. I reckon there is just another hours work here and the whole thing will be finished. The creation of the very open, delicate surface will be demonstrated in my lace class along with the surfaces I had on here yesterday. I have enjoyed playing with this piece so much in the last day or so that I am going to get ahead of myself and create more before class starts.
This afternoon I am getting my hair cut, hence the early post. Getting my hair cut is one of my least favourite past times...I really do not like it. The little bits of hair really annoy me. The hair on my clothes annoys me. The hair on the floor really annoys me. I have it done at home, a mobile hairdresser as going to an actual hairdressing place really annoys me...as you can tell.....I get annoyed.......
My white embroidery, my wrapping cloth was put away carefully over the holiday period. Yesterday I got it out again as I think it's time to get this one finished and off to its new home. It only needs one more small section so this morning I pieced that section together, 12 x 12 inches. Once that is embroidered all the sections can be joined, the cloth can be backed, the edges titivated and voila...it will be done.
Don't think I have forgotten about my muslin holder though,I haven't. I worked on that some more last night and will keep you up to date with that. Today I have to attend to school stuff so if you need me I will be over on flickr....issuing invites.
