recent buys and a crochet update

As promised, an update on my crochet progress. It has grown quite a bit since you last saw it but I'm not even half way there yet.

I'm alternating daily between embroidery and crochet but this weekend the crochet will take a back seat as I prep for my new class which begins a week on Monday.

There are new supplies here too. Some are for the new class, namely the button making things. The Cigarette silks were purchased 'just because' and I can never have too much thread.

As you probably know, my 'go to' thread is Coton a Broder 16, colour B5200.

Shock horror though, there wasn't any size 16 where I usually buy my threads. Instead I bought the size 20 which is the same shade number but finer. It's white, it's Coton a Broder, two out of three isn't bad.

I apologise that I don't have anything new to show you today but although these pieces weren't created recently they are very much inspiration for what is coming next for me.

Creatively I am a bit all over the place at the moment.

Work is continuing on this piece, I am sampling for my new class (that's where today's images come in), I am crocheting and have also casted on some knitting!

I'm certain you all know what this kind of juggling is like so am confident you are all with me in spirit!

a front cover and two new pages

I'm not constantly working on this piece, this cloth book of embroidered samples. By that I mean I don't pick it up every day. If you are wondering why it's taking me so long that's the reason.

I am alternating each day between embroidery and crochet at the moment.

When I am on an embroidery day I could be working on this little book or doing prep for my next class like I shared here yesterday.

Yesterday was embroidery day and the front cover of this was embroidered as were two new pages.

There are still two pages needed before this can be finished and a lining needs to be pieced for the front cover.

Today is crochet day and I will show you blanket progress next time.

titivations

Following on from my last post, I have been creating little embellishments, small pieces of embroidery and patchwork using paper and cloth.

Having a collection of these pieces to hand is essential when I create a new artist book. They fill pages, they are extra adornment.

The pinned piece at the bottom of the image is waiting for hand stitch. I think I will use loopy bullion knots on that one.

More pages have been put together for my next sample book too.

The crochet? I am making progress and will share that soon.

 

embroidery for an artist book

This little white piece has been purposely created to fill a page in a hand made artist book.

The rest of my weekend will be spent doing more of this in prep for my next class 'October 2021 Sewing Circle'.

By more of this I mean embellishing little scraps of cloth, adding lace, beads, colour and stitch.

We will be putting a couple of little books together in this class so I will need something to start filling them with.

Meanwhile, the crochet is unfinished as is my little cloth book.

I'm juggling.
