bits and pieces

Hi, how is everybody?

I am easing myself back in here, sporadic posting, no plans as such but I intend to be around more often from now on.

Don't let that fool you into thinking all is well in my creative world.

It's not awful or terrible but apart from class which I LOVE and adore I am a little lost.

If anyone finds me can you give me a nudge?

The work today is a little bit of everything. The circular pieces are for aplique which I will add to a tablecover I am making in class.

The work on paper is a little stitched sketchbook, also for class.

The other pieces are for another stitched sample book.

In other news.....I have a badly inflamed, infected? gum which is making my whole face sore. Sympathy accepted....

 

more gingham, more simple embroidery

I've been busy. No thumb twiddling happening here.

This is a little book of stitch sampling inspired by the work I am creating in sewing circle.

I'm still surrounded by gingham here, gingham and table cloths and simple hand embroidery.

The piece in the foreground is a little stitched notebook in progress. I have just pieced a patchwork cover for that and am in the process of hand stitching into that pieced cloth.

I'm a little distracted these days, there has been amazing and happy news here.

My daughter is expecting a baby in January 2022, my son in February 2022. (not him personally, that would be something but you know what I mean!)

I am now in full on nanna mode and have made two baby quilts already! Go me.

popping in to say hello

Hi everyone, how are you? I thought I would just pop by to say hello and show you a little of what I have been up to.

This probably isn't normal service resuming but I do miss this place (and you).

The work here is evolving in 'interactive sewing circle'.

Inspiration for these pieces comes from my nanna Sally and my nanna Beryl, my memories of those women who played a huge part in my life.

The embroidery is simple, the cloth too (mostly)

Neither of those women would have had access to fine Liberty cloth so I am gifting them some of that lovely fabric within these pieces.

This class has been a revelation to me. The zoom meetings are inspirational, fun and so very supportive.

What a wonderful group of women has been assembled.

I take my hat off to each and every one of them and want to thank them for being part of this and most importantly making it work.
