It's a pile.....it's several things placed together with thought, not just thrown down. There are two pages, one finished and one in progress from class along with scraps of paper, torn edges and lace.
Gathering is good for me, it inspires me, it allows me to develop ideas and it also gets me very excited about the possibilities. I'm looking at the details here, the delicate fringe of tiny white beads which is almost invisible against the red marbled paper. I'm actually drooling over the soft, padded silk velvet scrap most visible in the lower left hand corner of the last image and don't get me started on the fine metal strip running through the cream paper.
Now I need to rip more paper, add it to lace, attach strips of metallic cord.....create another surface and find a space on there for more soft, silk velvet.
I've had quite a few messages asking if I am OK because of the snow you have seen on the news. Thank you.....I am fine. We missed the worst of it, it fell just south of us so although we do have snow we have gotten off lightly compared to other areas. I ventured out in the car earlier and made it home again without any problems apart from my toes threatening to fall off because they were so cold.
A reminder....the return of 'embroidery school' for 2018. You can read about that here.
