mounting samples

Despite my plans to make buttons, yesterday afternoon was spent with watercolour paints. I found a small sample which needed to be mounted so a background had to be created. Too bright I thought, how to tone it down. I slept on it. This morning I created an overlay with tracing paper, it does mute the colour, adds a depth to the whole piece. Now it's finished though I'm still not sure. Perhaps a plain white background was all that was needed. It's too late now, everything is fixed. I could rip it up, remove the stitched piece and start again but there's a lesson to be learn't here....don't attach anything permanently until you are 100 % sure.
