One finished piece of snippet cloth, one in progress. This differs from this which I showed you the other day. The cloth today is sturdier, a cotton background with cotton cloth snippets and metallic silk tissue. The lace cloth from earlier this week has a scrim background with lace snippets added. That one is much finer, more flexible, lighter.
Snippet cloth, this cloth today is stronger and has very different applications. Areas of this are quite thick and harder to embellish by hand yet that is possible in the finer areas. It is a wonderful base for applique, it's a brilliant fabric to use when creating applique shapes. It layers, it holds it's shape when used to create vessel like structures. I can't choose a favourite between snippet cloth and lace cloth, they are both so useful in their own way.
It's good to spend an afternoon on the sewing machine putting these pieces of fabric together. I could start a production line, keep going, break more machine needles ( I have broken three this week. What's that all about?) just make sure you keep the coffee coming.
